There is one statistic that stands out and at the same time confirms the impressive level of performance Oscar Piastri has been delivering in Formula 1. Even though the Australian made mistakes during the 2025 season that ultimately cost him a chance at securing his first world championship, he remains one of the most reliable and consistent drivers on the current grid.
McLaren aiming to surprise in Canada
Since making his Formula 1 debut, the McLaren driver wearing car number 81 has already competed in 74 Grands Prix, and in 66 of those appearances he successfully reached Q3 in qualifying. It is a striking statistic that highlights the remarkable consistency and technical quality of the McLaren driver.
During the current season, after what was initially a difficult and frustrating start, Oscar Piastri has managed to climb back into stronger positions, securing two consecutive podium finishes and reaffirming his status as one of McLaren’s key strengths.
The Woking-based team has clearly made progress in performance terms, helped by the first upgrade package introduced at the Miami Grand Prix. Another, reportedly more substantial development package is scheduled to arrive for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Attention now turns to Montreal, where McLaren could re-emerge as a much stronger contender in the fight at the front of the Formula 1 field.
Oscar Piastri’s remarkable qualifying consistency serves as a foundation for McLaren’s championship ambitions, proving that despite his young age, he possesses the technical precision and mental resilience required to compete at the very highest level of motorsport.
