Toto Wolff, Mercedes’ team principal, discussed Lewis Hamilton, reflecting on his performances this season and beyond.
Toto Wolff’s comments
These were the Austrian’s words in the press conference: “Brazil was a very negative weekend for him, and he’s not a driver who hides his feelings. However, I am proud of what we have been able to achieve this season, especially since in two races he will move to Ferrari. We have maintained a professional relationship, and that wasn’t easy, especially since the car is not as good as it should have been.” – the Mercedes team boss pointed out.
“Did I criticize him? Those comments were taken out of context. What I meant to say is that in a complex season like ours, it’s very difficult to perform at your maximum potential all the time. I’ve spoken about this with Lewis, we always talk about the situations we face, and about anything we may have said or done. I’ve often said that Lewis is the greatest [driver, ed.], and if we give him a fast car, he’s capable of showing that to everyone again. I have nothing else to add,” Toto Wolff concluded during the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend.
