Mercedes accidentally uses anti-Juventus chant in Kimi Antonelli Monza video

Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes W17, 2026 F1

Mercedes is continuing to celebrate Kimi Antonelli’s extraordinary victory at Monza, but one of the team’s social media posts produced an unexpected football-related mix-up. A video showing the young Italian celebrating his historic Formula 1 triumph was accompanied by what appeared to be “Sarà perché ti amo” – except Mercedes had selected an anti-Juventus parody rather than the famous Ricchi e Poveri song.

The mistake did not escape Juventus, which responded directly to the post after noticing the unusual soundtrack. It added a light-hearted twist to the celebrations surrounding Kimi Antonelli, whose victory from 19th on the grid at the Italian Grand Prix has become one of the defining moments of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Mercedes published several clips of Antonelli being celebrated by the crowd that had poured onto the Monza circuit after the race. The Italian was shown with the winner’s trophy, the national flag and the inevitable champagne as fans acclaimed him as a home hero.

For the soundtrack, the intention was seemingly to use one of the best-known Italian songs internationally, “Sarà perché ti amo”, originally released by Ricchi e Poveri in 1981. It was also a particularly fitting choice after the song had been sung by fans during Antonelli’s celebrations at Monza.

However, the version chosen for the Mercedes TikTok post was not the original. Instead, it was a football terrace parody created by Italian supporters as a taunt aimed at Juventus and widely heard in stadiums.

The person who prepared the video apparently failed to notice that the selected audio was the football parody rather than the original song. By the time Juventus drew attention to the mistake in the comments, the clip had already been published.

How ‘Sarà perché ti amo’ became an anti-Juve chant

The idea had been to accompany images of the Italian driver’s celebrations with a song closely associated with Italian popular culture. Instead, the original romantic lyrics were replaced by a football chant that has become familiar across Serie A grounds.

The parody runs: “What confusion, it must be because we support our team. It’s an emotion that slowly grows, hold me tight and stay closer to me, and anyone who doesn’t jump is a Juventus ‘hunchback’.”

Similar social media mistakes involving the same audio have occurred before. The anti-Juventus version has previously surfaced during Barcelona’s title celebrations, at the World Darts Championship, during an Italian victory at the European Games and even around a Jannik Sinner match against Lorenzo Sonego in Vienna.

This time, Juventus itself intervened. The club replied to Mercedes with the comment: “We’re not sure that’s the right audio,” accompanied by a laughing-crying emoji. The response drew attention to the mistake without treating it too seriously.

The intention behind the Mercedes post was clearly to add an Italian soundtrack to Antonelli’s remarkable home victory, with the genuine “Sarà perché ti amo” having already become part of the atmosphere surrounding his Monza celebrations. The wrong version, however, transformed an innocent Formula 1 tribute into an accidental piece of Italian football banter.

It is a minor footnote to what remains a remarkable weekend for Mercedes and its young championship leader. Antonelli’s Monza victory strengthened his position at the top of the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ standings, while the scale of his achievement was also reflected in the reaction across Italian motorsport following the race.

The celebration itself is unlikely to be remembered for the social media error. But for Juventus supporters – and whoever selects the soundtrack for the next Mercedes video – this particular version of “Sarà perché ti amo” may now be rather easier to recognise.
