After a difficult weekend in Austin, McLaren is heading to Mexico with ambitious goals. The British team aims to return to the top of the standings. After a few challenging races without a win, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez could be the perfect venue to send a strong message to rivals. Can they deliver? Below are the words from the key figures.
“I’m really excited to go to Mexico. It’s a place I love, and the circuit is fun to drive. Mexico City is full of passionate fans, so I can’t wait to feel the energy there. After reaching the podium in Austin, I want to build on that and fight for more points this weekend,” said Lando Norris.
Oscar Piastri is looking for redemption and wants to prove he can maintain his lead in the championship: “Jumping straight into another race weekend is a good opportunity to get back in the car and work with the team to maximize our performance. I’m confident it will be a productive weekend. I can’t wait and will focus on giving my best in Mexico.”
Team principal Andrea Stella on Mexico GP
“After an intense United States Grand Prix weekend, we now look ahead to the second half of this double-header. The unique nature of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with its technical and high-speed sections, always ensures exciting races. Additionally, Mexico City’s high altitude presents different challenges for the teams.”
Regarding the return of Pato O’Ward for FP1: “We’re also happy to welcome Pato back for FP1. He will take Lando’s MCL39 behind the wheel, supporting the team with setup work ahead of another competitive weekend. The entire team loves racing in front of such passionate fans, so we hope to deliver some great races for them,” Stella concluded.
