The American triumph was the sixth of Piastri’s career, compared to the five won by Norris.

Oscar Piastri, who claimed his first F1 victory last year in Hungary, has since won exactly one-third of the races he has entered: six out of 18. It’s also striking that car #81 has overtaken Norris in wins despite having competed in 82 fewer races over his career. It’s true that Lando Norris’s early years in F1 were marked by less competitive cars than what both drivers have had at their disposal over the past year, but the numbers still confirm Oscar Piastri’s superior ability to capitalize on the opportunities he gets.

Chasing Leclerc
Oscar Piastri’s next target for career wins among active drivers is Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque, who debuted in F1 in 2018 and has raced for Ferrari since 2019, has stood on the top step of the podium eight times. Given the performances so far this season, a change in the rankings between the two seems quite likely. The current World Championship leader is already third among active drivers in terms of win percentage. Only the legendary Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have better figures. The MCL39 certainly plays a role, but Oscar Piastri’s talent is plain to see.
