Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet have become parents: the couple’s first child has been born, making the four-time world champion a father for the first time. Last December, the two had announced the happy news through a post on social media. According to David Croft, the baby girl has already been born, which is why Max Verstappen was absent from Thursday’s media day in Miami.
Months ago, the Brazilian blogger had been spotted shopping in preparation for the baby’s arrival. Recently, Helmut Marko clarified that the arrival of baby Verstappen would not interfere with “any of Max’s track activities.” In fact, confirming this, Verstappen had already departed for Miami on Thursday afternoon with his private jet from Nice and will be regularly present in Miami starting Friday.
The Red Bull driver still skipped Thursday’s scheduled media day to stay in Monaco with his family. In a press release, the Austrian team had announced that his absence from the paddock was due to the fact that he was “about to become a father.”
Together since 2020, the two officially became a couple the following year. Kelly Piquet already has a daughter, Penelope, born in 2019 from her previous relationship with Daniil Kvyat, a former Red Bull driver.
“Get married? Me? Now that you’ve publicly put me on the spot, I have to set a date! I don’t know. Time will tell. Right now I’m very, very happy with Kelly,” Max Verstappen said last year when asked when he would marry his partner. “Personally, I haven’t set a date for when I’ll get down on one knee and ask her. That should happen spontaneously.”
