Max Verstappen is one of the most sought-after drivers not only in Formula 1 but also in the endurance racing world. This was confirmed by former race driver Stoffel Vandoorne, now Aston Martin test and reserve driver, who openly admitted he would gladly share a cockpit with the four-time world champion Dutch driver, perhaps at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In recent months, Max Verstappen has made concrete steps toward a potential future career in endurance racing, never hiding his passion for all forms of motorsport. Beyond his F1 commitments with Red Bull, the Dutchman has obtained the license required to compete in GT3 cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, even impressing by winning on his debut in the NLS on one of the world’s most iconic and challenging tracks.
The words of Vandoorne
Max Verstappen’s dream is clear: to split his time between endurance racing and Formula 1, remaining active across multiple categories. Among his future goals, legendary races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring stand out, with the latter potentially becoming a reality in 2026. This prospect excites Stoffel Vandoorne, who is currently competing in multiple categories.
The former McLaren driver, in addition to his role at Aston Martin, also serves as reserve driver for Jaguar in Formula E and competes in the World Endurance Championship with Peugeot, making him one of the most versatile profiles in the paddock. The idea of sharing a race with Verstappen in endurance events fascinates him greatly.
“Max follows everything,” Stoffel Vandoorne said in a recent interview. “He knows everything about everyone, the results, how a race went, and so on.” The Belgian added: “He has an enormous passion for motorsport in general. That’s why you sometimes see him driving GT3s. Practically anything with four wheels, he wants to try it.”
Finally, he admitted: “It would be great if in the future we could do Le Mans together, yes. I certainly wouldn’t say no.”
