Max Verstappen spoke openly about the situation inside the Red Bull team, highlighting the difficulties the team is currently facing.
As we approach the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, there have been three weeks of extensive discussion about the future of the Dutch driver. Verstappen revealed the challenging situation unfolding at Red Bull ahead of the major regulatory changes set for 2026. His statements have raised concerns within the team and clearly outline the struggles they are experiencing.
It is important to remember that Red Bull will no longer be supported by Honda and, for the first time, will have to produce its own engines. In this regard, a strategic partnership with Ford has been established, which will be crucial. Power Units will become even more critical for on-track performance starting next year, and the team cannot afford to fall behind their rivals.
Max Verstappen’s Concerns
Interviewed during the first day of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Max Verstappen candidly discussed the internal situation at Red Bull. His straightforward admission that the team is going through more complicated years is notable. Overall, the team is in a difficult position following several departures and a car that is no longer able to win consistently.
“We’ve had several seasons with great results. Now, for the past three years, things haven’t gone very well. I think the last year and a half didn’t go as we would have liked. We probably shifted the boat in a different direction,” Max Verstappen explained.
However, the Dutch driver remains resilient: “We have to look forward because looking back doesn’t make sense.” His comments also referred to Christian Horner: “We are grateful for these 20 years, especially from my side. These things will always be remembered. The relationship between me and Christian doesn’t change.”
