Max Verstappen reported a problem with his driving position during FP2 at Sepang, telling Red Bull that he once again felt uncomfortable inside the car. The issue emerged during practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, adding another complication to a physically demanding weekend.
The four-time world champion raised the problem over team radio and suggested that the way he feels inside the cockpit changes depending on how he settles into the car.
Max Verstappen reports seating-position problem in Sepang FP2
“I feel really bad in the car again. I’m talking about my position: it feels like it’s all a lottery depending on how I sit in the car. I don’t know why,” Max Verstappen explained over the radio.
Red Bull acknowledged the complaint and told its driver that the team would investigate once he returned to the garage.
“We’ll have a look when you come back to the pits,” the team replied.
The issue therefore appears to concern Max Verstappen’s driving position and how comfortable he feels inside the cockpit rather than a specific performance problem identified elsewhere on the car. Red Bull will need to inspect the situation more closely once the car is back in the garage.
FIA Heat Hazard procedure adds to demanding Sepang weekend
The complaint comes during an especially demanding weekend for the drivers from a physical perspective. Sepang’s extreme heat and high humidity have already prompted the FIA to activate its Heat Hazard procedure.
That makes cockpit comfort particularly important, with drivers already facing some of the most physically challenging conditions of the season as practice continues in Malaysia.
