A world beyond F1
Four world titles in Formula 1 do not seem enough to satisfy Max Verstappen’s hunger for success. The Red Bull driver, interviewed by his sponsor Heineken during a promotional video, also discussed his plans for life after F1.
The Dutch phenomenon’s passion for endurance racing is well-known. In this conversation, however, the #1 from Hasselt specifically detailed his future projects, suggesting he intends to focus more on individual races rather than entire championships, such as WEC or IMSA.
In endurance to win
“After F1, I definitely want to do endurance races, all the major 24-hour events,” Verstappen clarified. True to the spirit of great champions, however, merely participating is not an option for Max: “Obviously, I want to enjoy them, but when I take part, I want to win. So I wouldn’t do these races just for fun; I want to try to win.”
It is plausible that the 24-hour races Max Verstappen refers to include Daytona, Spa, and Nürburgring, as well as Le Mans, of course. In motorsport history, only five drivers have won one or more F1 titles and achieved one or more victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Mike Hawthorn, Phil Hill, Graham Hill, Jochen Rindt, and Fernando Alonso. Max Verstappen is currently under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season.
