Max Verstappen calls for calm after Austin Sprint Pole: “Every point counts” | United States GP. Max Verstappen secured Sprint Pole in Austin.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull 2025 F1
In the Sprint Qualifying session, Max Verstappen clinched the Pole for today’s race in Austin. Interviewed at the end of the session, he urged calm as he looks ahead to the drivers’ championship.

The possibility of a reopened championship, which once seemed all but decided, now appears increasingly likely. In Austin, Max Verstappen secured the Pole for Saturday’s Sprint race, sending very positive signals. In his post-session interview, the Dutch driver appeared composed, fully aware that the road ahead is steep.

Verstappen remains composed after Sprint Pole: “The battle for the title is extremely tight”

After claiming the Sprint Pole, snatched at the last moment from the McLaren, Max Verstappen showed no signs of pride. Instead, the Dutch driver seemed focused and fully aware that his journey to contesting the title is far from simple.

“It was a good qualifying session, we were all close in every sector and tried to finish together, which is not easy at a critical moment,” he explained at the end of SQ3. “We went out on soft tires, without any reference. I still expect it to be a tough battle tomorrow in the Sprint, but that’s exactly what we want to see. So I’m excited for tomorrow and happy with today.”

He then explained how challenging the conditions had been and clarified his objectives for tomorrow.

“Yes, as you can hear, the wind was very variable, with many gusts. It’s easy to go off track at high speed in this wind, with the track conditions also being very changeable. There’s still some room for improvement here and there, I think, but overall it’s been an excellent day for me.

We’ll try to make a strong start and hopefully have a good race pace. But we’ll find out tomorrow. The battle for the championship is extremely tight, and every point counts.”
