Audi and Mattia Binotto are serious about their F1 entry, with a fundamental technical shift in the works. The Four Rings brand is preparing for its official debut in the Circus. Having completed the acquisition of Sauber, it will be listed as a constructor on the grid starting in 2026. Meanwhile, it has announced the opening of a technical center in England, where a large portion of the top-tier engineers live and work.
There is still a year to go before the Four Rings appear on the side of a single-seater. It will be a year of transition, but also of construction: the task of getting Sauber back on track is enormous. With new hires, internal restructuring, and two drivers making their debut with the Hinwil-based team, 2025 is expected to be particularly challenging.
However, an important decision has been made: the creation of a technical center in England, which will work in coordination with the Hinwil headquarters. The goal is to expand its presence in Motorsport Valley, the region in the United Kingdom that hosts the headquarters of most teams on the grid. A specific location has not yet been chosen, but Audi appears to be eyeing Silverstone, Milton Keynes, and Bicester.
Mattia Binotto: “We Are Moving Closer to the Heart of Motorsport”
In a press release issued by the Swiss team, Mattia Binotto explained the decision: “We are excited to establish our own technical center in the United Kingdom, complementing our key headquarters in Hinwil, which will continue to lead our main engineering operations and drive the team’s biggest growth.” – the former Ferrari team principal pointed out.
“Expanding into the UK allows us to stay close to one of the most dynamic motorsport ecosystems in the world. Our vision is to create a strong and collaborative network between Hinwil and the UK, capable of fostering innovation and performance.”
