Liam Lawson will swap his Formula 1 steering wheel for a guitar during the United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, taking to the stage at Racing Bulls’ Garage Sessions music and cultural event alongside his brother and childhood friends.
The New Zealand driver will also unveil his new Taylor Guitars LL30 GS Mini Special Edition, a personalised instrument that brings together his long-standing passion for music and his Formula 1 career. The appearance will give fans an opportunity to see a different side of the Racing Bulls driver away from the circuit.
Liam Lawson prepares for live music performance at Austin GP
For Formula 1 fans, Liam Lawson is best known for his performances behind the wheel of a Racing Bulls car. In Austin, however, the New Zealander will show a different side of his personality as he steps onto the stage during the team’s Garage Sessions event.
Lawson will perform live with his brother and friends he has been making music with since childhood. The occasion will bring together people who share a musical history stretching back long before his Formula 1 career.
Music has always been an important part of Lawson’s life. His father played in a band and encouraged both Liam and his brother to pick up the guitar when they were just six years old.
That childhood interest has remained with the Racing Bulls driver throughout his motorsport career and has now developed into a collaboration with Taylor Guitars.
“Playing guitar has always been a big part of my life,” Liam Lawson explained. “It feels like a full-circle moment now that I’m launching a customised LL30 GS Mini SE while performing with my brother and two friends I grew up playing music with.”

The centrepiece of the Austin appearance will be the launch of the Taylor Guitars LL30 GS Mini Special Edition, a customised guitar featuring a distinctive pink-to-white gradient finish.
The design also incorporates the number 30, the racing number associated with Lawson in Formula 1, creating a direct connection between his motorsport identity and his passion for music.
The guitar will be presented during the Garage Sessions, an event through which Racing Bulls aims to connect with supporters in a different setting from a traditional Formula 1 race weekend.
The programme will begin with the Esses Bazaar, featuring live music, food, Western-style clothing and activities for fans before culminating in evening performances.
The event forms part of the wider atmosphere surrounding the 2026 United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, where Formula 1 returns to the Circuit of The Americas from 23 to 25 October.
Lawson explains why music matters during the F1 season
For Liam Lawson, the performance is more than an opportunity to promote a new guitar. Music also plays a personal role in helping him disconnect from the demands of a Formula 1 season.
“Music is a big part of my life and I use it to clear my head during the season,” Liam Lawson said. “I’m really excited to perform at the Garage Sessions and to be able to connect with fans away from the track.”
The opportunity to share a stage with his brother and friends he has known since childhood adds another personal dimension to the appearance.
For one evening in Austin, lap times and race positions will not be the focus. Instead, Liam Lawson will have the chance to make an impression with a guitar rather than a steering wheel, bringing a passion that began at the age of six into the spotlight during a Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend.
