Leonardo Fornaroli truly seems to be the young driver of the moment in the F1 circus. The reigning F2 champion has been jumping from one cockpit to another in recent days, with the clear goal of getting noticed and securing a full-time race seat for 2027.
Following his highly successful FP1 outing in Barcelona, the driver from Piacenza was on track today at Monza with the McLaren team for a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) day. He got behind the wheel of the MCL60, the machinery utilized by the Woking-based squad during the 2023 season. Fornaroli drove the Brianza circuit in the morning session, before handing the car over to papaya test driver Will Stevens for the afternoon. As reported by McLaren, the Italian completed 36 laps for a total of 207 km.
Today’s run represents the midpoint of a genuine tour de force for Leonardo Fornaroli. Tomorrow and the day after, he will be in Jerez with Haas for another TPC test, an opportunity that could prove highly interesting with an eye on 2027. At the conclusion of his Monza running, Fornaroli expressed his gratitude to McLaren for allowing him to take part in the upcoming Spanish session organized by the American team.
