Norris continues his winning streak amid world championship success
Lando Norris has extended his perfect streak of outqualifying his teammates during the 2025 Formula 1 season. The British driver secured the 2025 World Drivers’ Championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, crossing the finish line in third place and ultimately claiming the title with a narrow two-point advantage over Max Verstappen. At the Yas Marina Circuit, Norris also confirmed that he has continued his impressive record of outperforming teammates in qualifying throughout his Formula 1 career.
In his first two seasons, 2019 and 2020, Lando Norris narrowly beat Carlos Sainz in qualifying, with an 11-10 advantage in 2019 and a 9-8 edge in 2020. He later proved even more dominant against his next teammate, Daniel Ricciardo. In 2021, Lando Norris outqualified Daniel Ricciardo 15-7, and in 2022 he was overwhelmingly faster, taking pole position 20 times out of 22 sessions.
When Lando Norris faced Oscar Piastri during their first two seasons together, he built a commanding qualifying record of 35-11. However, Piastri began to close the gap in 2025, making the battle far more competitive. By the end of the 2025 season, the head-to-head qualifying record between the two was 13-11 in Norris’ favor, highlighting a significant shift and the Australian’s growing challenge.
