“A perfect weekend is one where you win the race or the championship, but we need to stay grounded.” Toto Wolff did not go overboard with the praise for Andrea Kimi Antonelli after the Brazilian Grand Prix, even though the Italian rookie had pushed through a very difficult period following an excellent start to his season.
Speaking ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli highlighted how a meeting held after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza proved essential to reset mentally and rebuild from zero, ultimately helping him deliver a standout performance like the one seen in Brazil. “The meeting after Monza helped me reset and refocus on what my objectives need to be and on the things I must concentrate on,” Kimi Antonelli said. “In Brazil the key for me was managing to put everything together and being consistent. In Miami, for example, I started the weekend very well with pole in the Sprint Qualifying, but as the weekend went on I wasn’t able to be as effective.”
“Winning the first race of my career in Las Vegas would definitely be special,” he added. “It’s easier said than done, of course. I obviously hope Mercedes is as fast as it was in 2024, but there is no guarantee it will be like that. It’s going to be a unique and difficult weekend, with cold temperatures and rain expected in FP2. We’ll see how it goes. As always, I’ll need to adapt quickly.”
