Racing Bulls outperform Red Bull on Friday in Budapest
French racing driver Isack Hadjar impressed during the free practice sessions on Friday at the 2025 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, emerging as the top performer among all Red Bull-backed drivers. By the end of Free Practice 2, the young driver secured the eighth-fastest time on the timesheets, finishing ahead of Racing Bulls teammate Yuki Tsunoda. Notably, during the first free practice session earlier in the day, Hadjar had managed to set the fourth-fastest time overall, although he later dropped a few positions in the afternoon session.

Reflecting on what was a promising day for both himself and the team, Isack Hadjar shared his thoughts, stating that the car felt extremely competitive and that they had completed a strong opening session. During the second free practice, as the top teams began to reveal more of their genuine race pace, the Racing Bulls drivers lost a few positions in the standings, but Hadjar still felt the performance of the car remained very strong. He admitted that there were still some areas of the car’s behavior that he was not entirely convinced about, but added that there was clear room for improvement. According to Hadjar, the second session provided a more accurate picture of the car’s true potential heading into the remainder of the race weekend. He also praised the Hungarian circuit, noting that its high-downforce nature makes it particularly enjoyable to drive.

In contrast, New Zealand driver Liam Lawson had a more difficult day and could not do better than fifteenth position overall. He explained that it had been a somewhat complicated Friday for him and the team, particularly due to the amount of traffic encountered on track. Lawson pointed out how close the field currently is in terms of performance, emphasizing that even the smallest gains can make a significant difference, especially with qualifying set to play a critical role in determining the outcome of Sunday’s race.
