Helmut Marko remains confident in Red Bull’s chances of winning the Formula 1 World Championship. With more than 300 points still available this season, anything can happen.
So far, the 2025 Formula 1 season has been largely dominated by McLaren. However, Helmut Marko, the senior sporting advisor for Red Bull Racing, continues to believe in his team’s ability to fight for the championship and refuses to give up. With 12 Grand Prix races and 4 Sprint Races still to go, there are still over 300 championship points at stake.
Spa-Francorchamps Could Be the Turning Point for Red Bull
The upcoming race at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit is expected to be a crucial moment for Red Bull Racing. The team plans to introduce performance upgrades designed to reduce the gap with McLaren. Speaking to SpeedWeek, Helmut Marko expressed optimism:
“We still have 12 Grand Prix events and four Sprint races ahead of us, with over 300 points available. Thanks to the upgrades scheduled for the Belgian Grand Prix, which should bring us closer to McLaren, we don’t consider the title fight to be over. Spa-Francorchamps, with its typically variable weather conditions, should suit our car, and we remain optimistic.”
After Spa, Red Bull will face the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, a circuit known for its challenging layout and typically high temperatures, which may pose difficulties for the Austrian team. Nevertheless, Red Bull plans to bring further updates for the Hungarian weekend. Marko admitted the challenges awaiting the team there, emphasizing the importance of avoiding mistakes during this critical phase of the season:
“At the Hungaroring, we might encounter more difficulties due to the track characteristics and high temperatures. However, we will bring new upgrades for both race weekends, and we hope these will have a positive impact.”
Max Verstappen Also Refuses to Give Up
Max Verstappen, the reigning four-time World Champion and Red Bull’s lead driver, shares Helmut Marko’s determination. After the Silverstone Grand Prix, Verstappen reaffirmed his goal of returning to the front of the grid:
“I am not giving up. There are still many races left, and we can recover. With the right upgrades, we will be competitive everywhere again.”
