Haas F1 Team is gearing up to tackle the double-header weekend ahead of the mid-season summer break. Following disappointing performances in Austria and Great Britain, where the American outfit managed to score just a single point, the team is now determined to bounce back strongly. The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will feature the third Sprint Race of the 2025 Formula 1 season, a crucial event where drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman will aim to maximize their points haul. The often unpredictable and challenging weather conditions at Spa, known for frequent rain, could play a pivotal role in the outcome.
Regarding the upcoming race weekend, Team Principal Ayao Komatsu sounded a rallying call: “Spa is a very demanding circuit, but it is one that we all look forward to tackling. With its rich history, variable climate, and the fact that it requires a different aerodynamic load compared to a standard circuit, Spa presents many unique challenges,” he explained.
Komatsu continued, “I think what we showed at Silverstone with the current base car is quite promising. We really need to adapt the car to the specific demands of Spa, but we know we underperformed last Sunday at Silverstone, so we are eager to make amends. It is positive that we have two more races before the summer break. Plus, with the Sprint format, there is additional pressure because there are only a couple of hours before the Sprint qualifying session.”
Drivers’ Perspectives
Ollie Bearman expressed excitement about returning to racing, hoping for a smooth weekend: “I’m very excited to go to Spa; it’s a fantastic circuit with a lot of history. It’s the first Sprint Race after a long time, and it’s always a good format with more action and more racing, so I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully, our new upgrade will perform as well as it did in Silverstone, and we can have a clean weekend,” the young driver admitted.
Esteban Ocon shared a similar sentiment, viewing the upcoming Sprint Race as a key opportunity to secure points: “I’m looking forward to going to Spa, where there is always the chance of rain, which opens up new opportunities. It’s a Sprint weekend, so it’s quite difficult to get everything right because Spa is a very long track and there aren’t many laps available, so FP1 will be crucial for us to gather the maximum amount of information,” he said.
Ocon added, “Every little detail needs to be perfect so we can build on the first two qualifying sessions, stay out of trouble, and try to score points in both races.”
