The incident involving Oliver Bearman has sparked intense criticism from drivers regarding safety, while fans have also flooded social media with harsh comments. Many have blamed Franco Colapinto, sending him numerous offensive messages. As a result, the Argentine driver’s management team issued a statement shared across social media.
Team defends Franco Colapinto on social media
“Following the incident, Franco Colapinto’s management team intervened on social media to defend him from unwarranted hate. It was a race to forget. Franco was unlucky with the timing of the Safety Car, which ruined his chances of fighting for points,” the post from BulletSportsManagement on X read. “We also cannot ignore the crash involving Ollie Bearman, an incident for which Franco was not at fault.”
“It was a consequence of the new rules on energy management, as confirmed by the official FIA statement. Despite this, Franco is receiving unjustified criticism and hate, so let’s show him all the love and support he deserves.”
Reassuring fans about Franco Colapinto’s wellbeing
Regarding concerns over the impact these attacks might have on Franco Colapinto, his team reassured fans: “Guys, don’t worry. Franco is in excellent hands and has all the support he needs. He is stronger than you think, and negative comments or insults will not affect him. Don’t waste your energy on those who hate. Instead, focus on supporting Franco. He is surrounded by the right people, who make sure he feels safe and happy, so you can rest easy,” the statement concluded.
Franco Colapinto’s camp is standing firm against social media vitriol, shifting the blame back onto the 2026 technical framework. Based on the FIA’s findings at Suzuka, the Argentine driver was a passenger to a wider regulatory issue rather than the architect of Bearman’s misfortune.
