Franco Colapinto is driving the Argentine public, and beyond, wild: after just three races since his signing with Williams, the Argentine has immediately shown himself to be a competitive driver, capable of partnering with the highly regarded Alex Albon. However, Franco Colapinto’s future does not seem to be with Williams, given the arrival of Carlos Sainz starting with the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The Argentine driver will once again have to wait for a new opportunity to join another team. However, at the moment, as he stated in a recent interview for the RacingNews365 website, his focus is elsewhere: “I’m not focusing on 2025, I’m just focusing on the fantastic opportunity I’ve had from James [Vowles] and Williams. We are working very, very well together. Of course, it would be a dream come true to stay in F1. But right now, I’m extremely happy to have this chance and very proud to be part of this team and score points together. We’re achieving great things,” he concluded.
However, according to various rumors circulating in the paddock, Franco Colapinto is one of the candidates for the last available seat at Audi, a position that seemed to belong to Valtteri Bottas. The German team’s management is evaluating the performances of the Argentine talent, who could potentially have a chance to stay on the grid.
Regarding these rumors, the Williams driver admitted: “I haven’t seen much news, to be honest. Right now, I’m with Williams, and I think we’re doing a great job together. My goal is to finish this year on a high note and keep learning. I have a lot to learn, and then we’ll see what I can do next year,” he concluded. We will have to wait for the upcoming races to know what decision Audi will make and what direction Franco Colapinto’s future will take.
