The 46-year-old British engineer and strategist, who previously served as Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team’s Head of Strategy from 2010 to 2023, has joyfully announced the birth of his second child. Taking to his personal social media accounts, James Vowles shared several touching photos of himself with the newborn and his wife, Rachel. Alongside the images, he wrote a simple and emotional message: “Welcome to the world, little one! Rachel and the baby are healthy and happy.”

According to James Vowles, the baby was originally due to arrive last weekend — which happened to coincide with the 2025 Formula 1 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone, a home race not just for Williams but also for Vowles personally. Despite the timing, both mother and child are reportedly doing very well.

This isn’t the first time that James Vowles has had to manage the overlap between personal milestones and the intense demands of a Formula 1 calendar. Two years ago, during the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix, he missed the event entirely to be present for the birth of his daughter — a decision that highlighted the importance of family even within the high-pressure environment of Formula 1.
