Flavio Briatore, renowned for his long career in Formula 1, returned in 2024 as an executive consultant for the Alpine team, aiming to bring the French team back to the top of the World Championship. Abandoning the previous “100-race” plan proposed by Laurent Rossi and Otmar Szafnauer, Flavio Briatore has outlined a new strategy for Alpine’s future.
Flavio Briatore’s plan includes a series of ambitious targets: in 2025, lead the midfield, surpassing competitors like Aston Martin; in 2026, achieve podiums and victories, consolidating the team’s competitiveness; and finally, in 2027, fight for the World Championship, restoring Alpine to the pinnacle of Formula 1.
The 2024 season began with difficulties, with Alpine languishing at the back of the field in the initial races. However, the arrival of Flavio Briatore and new sporting director Oliver Oakes marked a significant turning point. With only two points in the early months, the team ended the year in sixth place, thanks to notable car development and a double podium in the chaotic Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Italian manager emphasized the importance of a solid organizational structure and effective management to achieve these goals. He criticized previous administrations for their inefficiency, stating: “I consider myself an enlightened dictator. At Alpine, there was no management.”
Flavio Briatore also addressed rumors of a possible team sale, declaring that Renault has no intention of selling Alpine despite current challenges.
Regarding the driver lineup, Flavio Briatore confirmed confidence in Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan for the 2025 Formula 1 season, dismissing speculation about hiring Franco Colapinto. However, he left the door open for changes, stating: “If a driver doesn’t progress, I’ll replace them.”
With a clear vision and defined objectives, Flavio Briatore aims to restore Alpine to its former glory through rigorous management and a long-term strategy.
