Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore was satisfied with the team’s performance over the Miami Grand Prix weekend, where the French outfit confirmed its status as the fifth strongest team on the grid.

Alpine confirms fifth-force status in Miami

Throughout the Miami weekend, Alpine clearly emerged as the fifth force on track, successfully placing both cars into the final segment of qualifying on both Friday and Saturday. The overall points haul was also far from insignificant, with Pierre Gasly finishing in the points on Saturday and Franco Colapinto scoring six points on Sunday.

In the Constructors’ Championship, the French team now sits in fifth place behind Red Bull and has overtaken Haas, showing a noticeably stronger level of competitiveness compared to the squad led on track by Ayao Komatsu.

Briatore reflects on a mixed weekend in Florida

Flavio Briatore commented on the Miami Grand Prix weekend with a mix of satisfaction and frustration, particularly regarding Pierre Gasly’s outcome:

“For Pierre it is a disappointing result, because the car was clearly competitive for points here, but we lost this opportunity due to an avoidable incident, as Pierre was the victim of a serious misjudgment from another driver. We are glad that Pierre came out of it unscathed, thanks to the safety of modern Formula 1.”

He then turned his attention to Franco Colapinto, who delivered a notably stronger weekend performance:

“On the other hand, Franco has completed a very positive week, in which he raced at the level we expect from him every race weekend. The car is competitive and these are exactly the performances we need, week after week, from both drivers and from the entire team in order to achieve our objectives.”

Flavio Flavio Briatore also highlighted Alpine’s current position in the championship and the team’s forward-looking mindset:

“We are in fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship and we are looking forward, not backward, to what we can achieve. We have a lot to analyse in the two weeks leading up to Canada, especially regarding some of the updates on the car that may not have given Pierre the performance improvement we expected.”

Finally, Flavio Briatore praised the FIA and Formula 1 for their operational decisions during the weekend:
