Fernando Alonso may be enduring a difficult season on the Formula 1 track, but away from racing, the Spanish driver has reasons to celebrate. While Aston Martin continues to struggle near the back of the grid and uncertainty remains over the competitiveness of the team’s 2026 project, Alonso’s personal life has taken a much happier turn, having recently become a father for the first time.
And somewhere between those contrasting emotions, the two-time Formula 1 world champion decided to treat himself to an extraordinary new purchase: an ultra-rare Pagani Zonda reportedly worth close to €10 million.
Fernando Alonso’s latest automotive purchase
The Aston Martin driver, who also shared the moment on social media, recently received the rare supercar in Monaco, where he lives. The car in question is believed to be a customised Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster Diamante Verde, reportedly costing around $11.7 million, which translates to nearly €10 million. The bespoke machine is packed with extraordinary engineering details and luxury craftsmanship, but one of its most unusual features is a personalised child seat, reportedly added as a special gift for Alonso’s son, Leonard.
This is not a standard feature offered with every Pagani vehicle, but rather a custom gesture from the manufacturer, specifically created for Alonso — something the Spanish driver is said to have greatly appreciated.
A unique gift for Alonso’s son
Even the complimentary gift carries a premium value — modest compared to the car itself, but still notable. Since the Pagani Zonda is a strict two-seater, the child seat can only be installed in the passenger position.
The seat is understood to be based on a Recaro Axion 1 model, which typically starts at around €300 in its standard form but can rise to €600 for premium versions. Alonso’s version is said to be fully customised in the colours of his racing helmet and features his iconic number 14. It is worth noting that the seat is designed for older children rather than newborns, meaning his son will need to wait a little longer before taking that passenger ride.
A near one-of-a-kind machine
This particular Pagani can almost be considered a collector’s one-off. Between 1999 and 2019, only around 140 Zonda models were produced, making the Diamante Verde an exceptionally rare machine. The car features a Carbo-Titanium chassis and a 7.3-litre Mercedes-AMG V12 engine capable of producing 760 horsepower, mounted behind the driver with a maximum engine speed of 8,000 rpm.
Fernando Alonso’s luxury car collection
Alonso is reportedly only the second owner of this specific vehicle, which now joins an already remarkable personal collection.
He previously owned a Ferrari Enzo, which reports suggest he sold in 2023 for more than €6 million. Beyond the new Pagani Zonda, Alonso is also believed to own a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR valued at more than $10 million.
His garage reportedly also includes an Aston Martin Valkyrie, an Aston Martin Valiant, a DBX S, a Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition, and naturally, two Ferrari icons: the F40 and the 512 TR.
