Between missed qualifying sessions and postponed decisions, Yuki Tsunoda’s seat at Red Bull seems more uncertain than ever. The Japanese driver and Red Bull find themselves once again in a delicate phase of the season, with Yuki Tsunoda’s future increasingly unclear.
Another tough weekend in Mexico
After yet another early exit in qualifying at the Mexican Grand Prix, where he finished eleventh in the eliminations, just 0.012 seconds behind Isack Hadjar, Yuki Tsunoda sees his chances of staying in Red Bull’s orbit diminish. This marks the third consecutive weekend in which the Japanese driver has failed to reach Q3, a trend that carries weight as Red Bull prepares to finalize its lineup for the next season.
Despite a recent seventh-place finish in the United States and praise from Laurent Mekies, Red Bull’s sporting director, Yuki Tsunoda’s future remains shrouded in uncertainty. The team had announced it would make a decision following the Mexican Grand Prix, but all signs point to a delay, suggesting ongoing evaluations and possibly internal tensions regarding future strategies.
“Constant pressure”
“Yuki has shown great commitment and clear growth, but the internal competition is ruthless,” Laurent Mekies stated, hinting that the team is still weighing its options. “Isack Hadjar is performing exceptionally, and we want to assess every possibility before making a final decision.”
For his part, Yuki Tsunoda does not hide his frustration: “I know I need to do more, but I am not going to give up. Every session is a new chance to prove my value.”
The stakes for Yuki Tsunoda
The Japanese driver is playing his last cards in a season that could mark either the end or a revival of his relationship with Red Bull. With pressure mounting and patience wearing thin, every performance is critical for Yuki Tsunoda as he seeks to secure his place in the team for the future.
