Max Verstappen has spoken candidly about his life as a father and how this new personal dimension has reshaped his view of the 2025 F1 season. In an interview on the Pelas Pistas podcast with Thiago Alves, alongside Nelsinho Piquet, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Christian Fittipaldi, the Dutch driver emphasized that fatherhood has not affected his aggressiveness on the track.
According to Verstappen, anyone claiming that having a child makes a driver more cautious or less competitive is simply wrong. “When you’re out there to perform, the job is clear: qualifying or race, if an opportunity arises, you take it,” he explained. The real difference, Max says, is in managing emotions after the race: a negative result no longer affects his mood once he returns home to his family.
The driver shared that, especially early in the season, some difficult results were stressful, but time spent with his daughter helped him put things into perspective and enjoy life beyond the track. This viewpoint was echoed by his fellow drivers during the podcast, with moments of lightheartedness and discussions about the shared experiences of fatherhood.
The turning point of the season
Max Verstappen then highlighted Zandvoort as a turning point in the season: intensive work on the car, including extreme modifications, allowed the team to find a more stable balance between speed and tire management. From that moment, performance consistency improved, and the champion’s driving became smoother and more predictable, reducing fluctuations between excellent and disappointing weekends.
Max’s message is clear: becoming a father does not mean losing fire on the track, but it offers a new perspective on priorities and emotions related to sporting results. Family becomes the anchor, while the Formula 1 car remains the place to give maximum effort without compromise.
