Haas arrives in Monaco
After leaving Montreal, Formula 1 heads this weekend to the historic streets of Monaco, where Haas will be aiming to add more championship points to its tally following Oliver Bearman’s 10th-place finish in Canada.
The American team’s record in the Principality has generally been challenging over the years, although there was a notable exception in the most recent edition of the race when Esteban Ocon crossed the finish line in seventh place, delivering one of Haas’ strongest Monaco results.
A special weekend
Throughout his Formula 1 career, Esteban Ocon has often produced strong performances around the streets of Monte Carlo. His best result came in 2023 when he secured a podium finish with Alpine, taking an impressive third place.
By contrast, the current season has not started as positively for the Frenchman. So far, his best result remains the 10th-place finish he achieved at Suzuka, highlighting the difficulties Haas has faced during the opening phase of the campaign.
Despite that, Ocon remains excited about returning to one of Formula 1’s most iconic venues.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend because Monaco is always one of the highlights of the season for teams and drivers,” he commented. “Personally, I have some wonderful memories connected to this circuit, and it’s fantastic to race so close to France, with friends and family coming to the track to support me every year.
“Racing on the historic streets of Monaco is truly special and it’s something every driver dreams of doing from childhood. The setting is unique, the circuit demands absolute precision, and having the confidence to get close to the walls is what really makes the difference.
“As a team, we will work hard to prepare as well as possible for the extremely important qualifying session on Saturday, and hopefully we can put together a strong race on Sunday.”
Chasing his first Monaco points
After finishing 12th in his first Monaco Grand Prix appearance last year, Oliver Bearman arrives in the Principality highly motivated and determined to break into the top 10. It is a target he has already achieved on numerous occasions this season, establishing himself as one of the most impressive young drivers on the grid.
The British driver is fully aware of the unique demands that Monaco places on both drivers and engineers.
“The Monaco Grand Prix is a challenge for both drivers and teams because you need to set up the car for a bumpy, low-speed circuit while also trying to generate as much downforce as possible,” Bearman explained. “Just like Montreal, it’s another track where confidence is essential and where you need to get as close to the walls as possible to maximize every lap. Qualifying here in Monaco is much more important than at most other races, but honestly, that’s part of the unique challenge of this weekend. It’s unmatched.”
Bearman’s comments reflect a view shared by many drivers throughout Formula 1. With overtaking opportunities notoriously limited around the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, a strong qualifying performance often plays a decisive role in determining the final race result.
For Haas, that means maximizing every aspect of preparation ahead of Saturday’s qualifying session. If Bearman can replicate the confidence and pace he has shown in recent races, the young Briton could put himself in a strong position to secure his first career points finish in Monaco.
Following the encouraging result in Canada, Haas will be hoping both its drivers can continue the team’s positive momentum and fight for another valuable points-scoring result on one of the most prestigious weekends of the Formula 1 season.
