Isack Hadjar left the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with mixed feelings. The French driver finished tenth, earning a single point, but departed the Baku circuit with some frustration after making an early mistake in the race. Hadjar, driving for the Racing Bulls team, shared his thoughts with the media present at Baku, including GP-News.net.
“It’s a shame because I felt good on the medium tires. On the first lap, I overtook Lando, but then I repeated yesterday’s mistake on the curb and immediately lost two positions to Charles and Lando. I can’t afford mistakes at crucial moments, and that’s what frustrates me,” Isack Hadjar said.
Hadjar hints at trying Williams
The French driver acknowledged the high potential of his car, while clarifying that it isn’t necessarily easy to drive:
“It’s always a Formula 1 car; I don’t think it’s easy. Maybe it’s simpler compared to others, but I don’t think it’s as easy as some say. Look at Williams, that also seems like a great car, and I’d love to try it. It was nice to fight with Ferrari and McLaren, which shows that we’re making progress. I take away this positive experience despite the disappointment from my mistake.”
Encouraging pace on hard tires
Despite a tricky start, Isack Hadjar found strong rhythm in the second part of the race thanks to the hard tires, showing competitive pace that allowed him to climb positions:
“With the hard tires, we were really fast and were catching up to the drivers ahead. Unfortunately, that mistake cost me dearly, but it was still a race with good battles, and I learned a lot. Aside from that slip, I have no regrets.”
Technical issues before the race
Before the start, Isack Hadjar reported some hydraulic issues that were later fixed by the team:
“During the race, I had no problems; the car was fine.”
Looking ahead with optimism
Looking to the future, Isack Hadjar remains positive about his prospects:
“I believe we can be strong everywhere. It depends a lot on the characteristics of each circuit: on high-speed tracks, we have a small advantage, while on circuits with more straights or slow corners, others are faster. But I’m confident heading into Singapore.”
