At the beginning of the 2024 Formula 1 season, following the scandal involving Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal appeared destined to leave the team. The internal rift with Helmut Marko and Max Verstappen‘s father put the Englishman in a highly risky position. As the year progressed, the situation calmed, and the atmosphere within the garage settled.
Christian Horner represents Red Bull, having been with the team since 2005 in the role of team principal. In his career, he has contributed to 8 drivers’ titles and 6 constructors’ titles. This shows that it is an extremely successful partnership, and it is difficult to imagine the Brit in any other role.
Reflections on the season’s balance
In the first part of a recent interview, Christian Horner reflected on the recently concluded season. The Team Principal of the Austrian team said: “Reflecting on a championship where we won 9 races, 4 sprints, achieved 9 poles, and secured the drivers’ title. It’s a testament to how Max drove this year, but also to how the team stayed focused and never gave up.”
“Certainly, it was a very complicated year. There were several scenarios to manage, but we always stayed focused on the track. Of course, we had several challenges within the team, but we are preparing for the future, and we are in excellent shape.” – he pointed out.
“My passion has always been competition. That’s the reason I get out of bed. When the lights go out, that’s all that matters.”
The response to rumors about leaving Red Bull
Despite the speculation being fairly certain, Christian Horner never considered leaving the team: “I’ve never had that thought in my head, to be honest. There’s a very motivating chapter with Red Bull Powertrains. It’s the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced in the 20 years I’ve been in this sport.” – the Red Bull team boss concluded.
