
The Chinese Grand Prix did not go as expected for Fernando Alonso, who retired after just four laps due to brake overheating. In Saturday’s Sprint, he had secured a solid tenth place, while in qualifying, he failed to reach Q3 but still managed to secure 13th on the grid, which had potential.
The first to notice something was wrong with Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin was Pierre Gasly, who informed the Alpine garage via team radio. Shortly after, Fernando Alonso was forced to slow down and safely return to the pits, ending his race.
Stroll, the only remaining Aston Martin on track, managed his tires well and crossed the finish line in 12th place. However, following the disqualifications of Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly, the Canadian driver moved up to ninth, earning two championship points despite not gaining the position on track.

After the race, Stroll commented on his performance with Aston Martin F1 in an interview conducted before the disqualifications of the three drivers mentioned above:
“It was tough. We realized that the others would also make a pit stop like us. We weren’t fast enough; we still have a lot to work on.”
Fernando Alonso on His Retirement: “It Was Scary”
Fernando Alonso addressed questions about his retirement:
“There was an issue with the rear brake temperatures, and we were forced to retire the car. Losing the brakes suddenly was scary. We will analyze what happened in China and try to improve the Aston Martin ahead of the next F1 race in Japan.” – the former Ferrari and McLaren driver concluded after the Chinese Grand Prix.
