Carlos Sainz heads to Monza without Ferrari: “I’ll bounce back, I’m confident”. Carlos Sainz returns to Monza as a Williams driver.

Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon preview the 2025 Monza Grand Prix

Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon have shared their thoughts ahead of the 2025 Monza Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz returns to Monza as a Williams driver

Monza will be a special event for Carlos Sainz. The former Ferrari driver will have the chance to greet his old fans, who celebrated his fantastic pole position in 2023, while also remembering his crucial role last year in “protecting” Charles Leclerc from McLaren attacks.

Monza could not come at a better time for the Spaniard, who has historically performed well at the circuit, as evidenced by three front-row starts and his second-place finish in 2020. “Smooth Operator” currently trails his teammate Alex Albon by 48 points and suffered another unlucky race at Zandvoort, spoiled by a contact with Liam Lawson for which he was unfairly penalized.

Carlos Sainz’s comments

“This week I’m heading to Monza, where I have many great memories from my previous years in F1. I can’t wait to create new ones with Williams and to get behind the wheel of the FW47 on this incredibly fast circuit. I am very confident that we will bounce back from last weekend and I look forward to an intense week at this fantastic track,” Carlos Sainz said.

Albon’s comments

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Monza this weekend,” added Alexander Albon. “We come off a strong fifth-place finish and are heading to another circuit that should suit our car, plus it’s always fun to drive. There have always been interesting qualifying strategies here, so we will need to give our maximum effort and do everything cleanly to stay ahead of our rivals. We’ll focus fully on that.”
