Cadillac strengthens its 2026 F1 project with Öhlins suspension deal. Cadillac confirms Öhlins as its technical partner for suspension systems.

Cadillac F1

Cadillac has chosen Öhlins as its technical partner for suspension systems ahead of its debut in the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.

The Cadillac Formula 1 project continues to take shape as the 2026 Formula 1 season approaches. The American team has officially confirmed a high-profile technical partnership with Öhlins, the historic Swedish brand specialising in high-performance suspension systems, which will supply the dampers for the future Cadillac single-seater.

This agreement represents a fundamental step in the development of the car and confirms the structured and ambitious approach adopted by the US-based team, which is determined to rely from the outset on partners with extensive experience at the highest level of motorsport. Öhlins, which became part of the Brembo Group in 2025, will equip the car with racing dampers on both the front and rear axles for the entire 2026 season.

Cadillac – Öhlins: a collaboration built over time ahead of the F1 debut

The collaboration between Cadillac Formula 1 and Öhlins did not come about overnight. The joint work began in the very early stages of the car’s design process, with the first prototypes developed as early as 2024, followed by a series of pre-production units. From that point on, engineers from both organisations have worked side by side, testing and refining every component until reaching the current definitive configuration.

The words of Nick Chester, chief technical director of Cadillac Formula 1 Team

Highlighting the technical value of the partnership was Nick Chester, chief technical director of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, who underlined how Öhlins’ contribution has been central since the initial phases of the project.

“We have been working with Öhlins since the early design stages of the first Cadillac Formula 1 Team car. The performance and quality of the Öhlins dampers are excellent, and we are looking forward to racing and growing together.”

There was also great satisfaction on the Öhlins side. Claes Hesling, Auto Racing Director of the Swedish group, emphasised the significance of the collaboration, both from a technical and symbolic perspective.

“It is an honour to have been chosen to supply the dampers for the first Cadillac Formula 1 Team car. This collaboration has represented an important opportunity for our two organisations, both of which have a strong tradition in motorsport, to join forces and further drive innovation in the world of racing and high-performance automotive engineering. This moment is the result of years of work, and we cannot wait to see the Cadillac Formula 1 Team line up on the grid next month.”

As the American team prepares to take its place among the world’s elite, securing a technical heavyweight like Öhlins sends a clear signal to the rest of the paddock. By focusing on high-quality components and long-term engineering synergy, Cadillac is ensuring that its entry into the sport is built on a foundation of reliability and precision. With only weeks remaining until the 2026 season begins, this partnership marks one of the final pieces of the puzzle coming together for the newest name on the Formula 1 grid.
