Starting next Formula 1 season, after several years, the grid will have eleven teams. Two more seats will be added to the current twenty, still to be assigned. The Cadillac team will make its debut in 2026, entering the top category of motorsport with Ferrari Power Units, before switching to General Motors units in 2029. The first livery of the Anglo-American team will be unveiled in Miami.
After years of speculation, the International Federation officially confirmed the new entry in the middle of last season. Cadillac will debut in 2026, coinciding with the introduction of new technical regulations, with the support of the American giant General Motors. The project initially presented by Andretti was rejected by Formula One Management (FOM) for several reasons.
A few days ago, Cadillac confirmed its partnership with Ferrari for the supply of engines for the first three years, from 2026 to 2029. Starting from 2029, Cadillac will use Power Units developed in-house by General Motors, thus increasing the number of engine suppliers in Formula 1.
However, Cadillac’s 2026 Formula 1 season begins now, with a preview during the upcoming Miami Grand Prix. During the sixth weekend of the 2025 season, specifically on Saturday, May 3, Cadillac will transform the Queen Miami Beach into the ‘Cadillac Club,’ an exclusive event bringing together big names from motorsport and entertainment, including IndyCar drivers, Hollywood stars, singers, and other celebrities.
The event will also feature top executives from General Motors and Cadillac. For the occasion, Cadillac will present a show car built according to the new 2026 FIA regulations, to showcase the livery with which it will debut in Formula 1, rather than the final race car.
The Miami event will mark the first official public event for the new team. The driver lineup has not yet been confirmed, although the first names circulating for the two available seats have already started to emerge.
