Cadillac delays search for third driver as 2026 line-up takes shape. Cadillac confirms its 2026 F1 line-up with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.

Graeme Lowdon, Cadillac F1, 2025

The Cadillac team has already announced its line-up for 2026, but the third driver of the American squad has not yet been revealed. The reason is simple: they have not even started looking for one.

“When we finish building the line-up, it will be very strong”
Graeme Lowdon, Team Principal of Cadillac, stated: “We have not yet started looking, we have not made any offers to anyone for the reserve driver position. But now we will focus our attention precisely on that role, in order to complete the line-up.”

The Team Principal is aware that fans would be delighted to see an American driver in a team like Cadillac, but he also made it clear that the drivers will be selected based on merit, not nationality: “I think the fans would love to see an American driver in an American team. There is nothing that prevents it, but we have to move forward and select drivers based on merit and build a team, because there are few experienced drivers available.”

“We could not take part in the last round of negotiations, so we are not in sync with the other teams. But this also has its advantages. There are many very good drivers available at the moment.”

“When we finish building the line-up, whatever it will be, it will be very strong,” he concluded.

With Bottas and Perez bringing a lot of experience, it is likely that the third driver will be younger and will not have raced in the category before. Everything remains to be discovered.
