A relentless Lando Norris delivered a flawless performance in Brazil, completing a perfect weekend that strengthens his grip on the 2025 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. The chequered flag at Interlagos handed the McLaren driver his 11th career victory and his seventh of the season, giving him a 24-point advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri, with just three race weekends remaining on the calendar.
After dominating the Sprint race on Saturday, Norris continued his impressive form into Sunday’s Grand Prix. Starting from pole position, the British driver maintained control from the first lap, setting an excellent race pace around the historic São Paulo circuit. Thanks to this victory, Lando Norris now leads the standings with a 24-point margin over Oscar Piastri and 49 points over Max Verstappen, who finished third after a spectacular comeback from the pitlane. “I pushed really hard,” Norris said after the race. “It was a fantastic race on such a great track, with incredible fans cheering for everyone.”
Consistency regained and the title in sight, Lando Norris stays focused: “I’m not thinking about it, I’m focusing on myself”
When asked how he managed to regain his consistency, Lando Norris replied: “By ignoring everyone who says nonsense about me. I’ve just focused on myself, and McLaren has done an amazing job — they’ve given me a great car. We’re pushing hard every weekend, and I’m doing the same off the track. It’s not easy, but seeing the results is really satisfying.”
With only three race weekends left, Norris now stands as the clear favourite for the world championship title. However, the British driver was quick to dismiss any distractions about the championship fight: “Thinking about the title? No, I’m really not thinking about it at all,” he told Jolyon Palmer in parc fermé after the race. “It’s been a great win, even though I expected us to be a bit faster — just look at how quick Verstappen was! Right now, I only want to keep my head down, focus on myself, and keep working hard.”
