Max Verstappen dominates in Baku: second consecutive victory for the Dutchman
For the second race in a row, the Dutch national anthem echoed on the Formula 1 podium to celebrate another victory for Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver completely dominated Sunday in Baku, leading from the start all the way to the chequered flag without ever losing control of the race.
“It was an incredible weekend,” Max Verstappen admitted in his post-race interviews. “The car performed really well on both tyre compounds, we always had clean air ahead and that allowed us to manage the tyres in the best way.” – the Dutch driver pointed out at the end of the Baku Grand Prix.
The only factor that caused him minor concern was the strong wind on the Baku City Circuit: “The car was moving around quite a bit, but of course I am very happy with this performance.”
With two consecutive victories under his belt, Max Verstappen now looks ahead to the Singapore Grand Prix, while acknowledging that it will be a more demanding challenge: “The last two races have been fantastic for us. But Singapore is a completely different track, with high downforce requirements, so we’ll see what we can achieve there.”
Will the Dutch national anthem play again under the lights of Marina Bay in Singapore?
