Audi heads into the 2026 United States Grand Prix looking to build on its encouraging Singapore result, with the German team targeting further points as Formula 1 begins a demanding three-race run through Austin, Mexico City and Interlagos.
After returning to the points at the Singapore Grand Prix, Audi is determined to maintain the progress shown over recent races. The midfield battle in the Constructors’ Championship remains extremely close, making consistency increasingly important as the season approaches its final stages.
The team arrives in Texas confident that it has made significant improvements in recent months, but with a clear objective: turn those gains into more points and give both Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto a stronger chance of fighting inside the top ten.
Allan McNish urges Audi to keep pushing after Singapore progress
The result in Singapore provided an important confidence boost for Audi ahead of the closing stages of the championship, although there is no sense of complacency within the team. Sporting director Allan McNish believes the work carried out over recent months is beginning to produce results, while acknowledging how competitive the midfield remains.
“It was encouraging to see our efforts translate into a convincing performance in Singapore, and that gives us confidence heading into the next races. At the same time, we know how tight the competition is and how much work there is still to do.
“Austin marks the beginning of another demanding run of races, and we want to approach it with the same determination we showed in Singapore. We have made some significant steps forward recently, and the aim now is to keep pushing, find that little bit extra and give ourselves more opportunities to have both cars fighting for points.”
Allan McNish’s assessment reflects Audi’s current position. There is satisfaction with the recent improvements, but also a clear understanding that every point will remain valuable in such a closely contested midfield battle.
The team’s progress has already been visible in recent results, including Audi’s double top-eight finish in Singapore. Maintaining that momentum across the next three Grands Prix will be an important objective.
Nico Hulkenberg targets another strong result at the United States GP
Nico Hulkenberg arrives at the Circuit of The Americas in a positive mood following Audi’s encouraging Singapore weekend. The German driver praised both the Texas circuit and the atmosphere surrounding the United States Grand Prix, although he stressed that his attention has already shifted to the challenge ahead.
“Singapore was a great way to finish the triple-header, and it was nice to reward the team with some important points. We certainly enjoyed it, but in Formula 1 you’re only as good as your last session, so now the focus is entirely on Austin.
“COTA is a fantastic circuit to drive, with a good mix of fast corners, technical sections and some proper racing. The Texas fans always bring great energy as well. We have another three intense weeks ahead, so it will be good to get straight back on track. Hopefully, we can put ourselves in a good position and give the team another reason to celebrate.”
Nico Hulkenberg’s comments combine confidence with a realistic understanding of the challenge. The Singapore result provides a useful foundation, but consistent performances will be essential if Audi is to consolidate the progress it has demonstrated.
The Circuit of The Americas offers a varied challenge, combining high-speed corners with technical sections where drivers must find the right balance. For Audi, the priority will be to translate its recent gains into another competitive weekend.
Gabriel Bortoleto determined to convert near misses into points
Gabriel Bortoleto shares his team-mate’s ambition as Audi prepares for the American leg of the championship. The Brazilian is determined to convert recent near misses into points after coming close to the top ten on several occasions without securing the results he had hoped for.
“Austin is always a fun weekend with a fantastic atmosphere, so I’m happy to be heading back to Texas. Things haven’t quite gone the way I wanted in the last few races, so I’m motivated to get back on track and try again this weekend. We have been close to the top ten a couple of times, and I’m looking forward to turning those opportunities into a good result.
“It’s the start of three consecutive races, and I’m ready to give it everything, hopefully starting this triple-header on the right foot.”
The Brazilian’s determination reflects his desire to make the most of the opportunities Audi has created. He has seen enough potential to believe that points are within reach, even if recent races have not always delivered the rewards he wanted.
Gabriel Bortoleto has also expressed confidence in Audi’s longer-term Formula 1 ambitions, making the team’s continued progress particularly important to his own development.
Audi faces crucial three-race test in the F1 midfield battle
The United States Grand Prix begins three consecutive race weekends that will take Formula 1 from Austin to Mexico City and then Interlagos. The demanding schedule gives Audi an immediate opportunity to build on its latest improvements, while leaving little time between races to reassess its performance.
With the Constructors’ Championship standings still closely contested in the midfield, even relatively small differences in results could prove significant over the coming weeks.
Audi’s immediate priority is therefore clear: maintain the momentum established in Singapore, give both drivers opportunities to challenge for points and demonstrate that the progress achieved in recent months can be sustained across different circuits.
Austin represents the first test of that ambition, with Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto both determined to ensure that the team’s recent efforts translate into further results.
