Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg are the first drivers to unveil their helmets for the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Audi has decided to steal a march on the competition on every front ahead of the new season. Bortoleto and Hulkenberg are the first drivers to show the helmets they will wear throughout the 2026 campaign. Unsurprisingly, the Audi logo features prominently on both designs, alongside title sponsor Revolut.
The Audi challenge could represent a major opportunity for the Brazilian driver in his second year in Formula 1. During several phases of the 2025 season, Gabriel Bortoleto demonstrated his ability behind the wheel. On the other side of the garage stands the experience of Nico Hulkenberg, who secured his first-ever podium in Formula 1 just last year.
The first helmets of 2026
Earlier today, both Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg officially presented the helmets they will use in the 2026 season. The two Audi drivers are carrying out much of their work in advance, having already taken to the track with the new car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The team’s next commitment will be further tests at the same venue.
The helmet of car number #5 features the traditional colours inspired by the Brazilian flag. Audi’s ambitious project could prove to be a springboard for Gabriel Bortoleto, who has already had the chance to sample an early version of the new single-seater alongside his team-mate. The car used by Audi on track does not yet represent the final specification, but it has provided the drivers with a first taste of the new technical cycle.
Hulkenberg has also revealed his helmet, opting for a clean and understated design. The German has stayed true to the visual direction he has followed in recent seasons. One of the most striking aspects at first glance is the increased number of sponsors compared to both drivers’ previous experience with Sauber.
Following the filming day on 9 January, the official livery will be unveiled on the 20th. Audi has already shown a concept version of the R26, but in Berlin the team will present the car that will subsequently take to the track for the first time.
Audi’s decision to reveal driver helmets even before the official livery launch in Berlin underscores the team’s “Vorsprung” (lead) mentality as they transition into a full works outfit. By showcasing Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg in their new colors early, the Audi Revolut F1 Team is maximizing its marketing visibility and signaling a high level of preparedness for the 2026 technical reset. While the R26 shakedown in Barcelona provided the data, these visual reveals are building the brand identity that Audi hopes will challenge the established order of Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull.
