Aston Martin prepares for 2026 F1 season with a powerful secret weapon. Aston Martin prepares for the 2026 F1 season with secret weapons.

Aston Martin AMR25, 2025 F1

Aston Martin is gearing up for the 2026 Formula 1 season, with all the key ingredients in place to achieve strong results.

The current championship has now passed its midpoint, and teams are increasingly shifting focus away from this season’s projects. The main priority for all teams, including Aston Martin, is the 2026 season, which offers greater opportunities to return to the top of the grid. Starting almost from scratch presents a significant opportunity for several teams that have not competed regularly for victories in recent years.

The British manufacturer is having a somewhat mediocre year, only salvageable by their recent strong performances. The fight for fifth place in the constructors’ championship remains open, but the current car will no longer receive upgrades, making it difficult to close the gap with teams like Williams.

The revelation from Stoffel Vandoorne
Aston Martin’s reserve driver, Stoffel Vandoorne, spoke about the work the team is undertaking with a view to the 2026 season. Beyond important investments in infrastructure, there are several key figures playing a crucial role in the pursuit of success. Naturally, attention is focused on Adrian Newey, but it is also important to highlight the arrival of Enrico Cardile directly from Ferrari.

It is also worth noting that the English team will no longer use Mercedes engines next year, switching instead to Honda power units. This is a bold move, but an interesting one given the successful partnership between Honda and Adrian Newey in the past, which brought significant victories to Red Bull. However, uncertainty remains as the Mercedes hybrid power units could turn out to be the most competitive for the next season.

“Within the team, there is great attention to doing things properly for 2026,” the Belgian driver explained. “Thanks to the partnership with Honda, the gearbox design, and the arrival of talented people, there is a lot of potential. I met Adrian Newey at the Monaco Grand Prix and worked with him a few weeks ago on the seating position for the 2026 car.”

Adrian Newey stands as a standout figure within the team. His contribution will be vital in the effort to challenge the top teams: “Having someone with so much success on the team is incredibly important. He is a great leader, has a clear vision of where to invest time and energy, and he is passing that vision on to the team. He is fully focused on the 2026 project.”
