Arvid Lindblad will celebrate Diwali at the 2026 São Paulo Grand Prix with a specially designed Formula 1 helmet honouring his Indian heritage and family traditions. The Racing Bulls driver will race with a design inspired by the Festival of Lights, which falls on Sunday, 8 November, coinciding with this year’s Grand Prix at Interlagos.
The initiative carries deep personal significance for the young British driver, bringing together his Indian roots, childhood memories and cultural identity during one of Formula 1’s major race weekends. Racing Bulls will also extend the celebrations beyond the helmet, decorating Lindblad’s car and garage with traditional Diwali symbols and designs inspired by his family’s heritage.

Arvid Lindblad celebrates Diwali and his Indian family heritage
Diwali is one of India’s most important and widely celebrated festivals. Known as the Festival of Lights, it symbolises hope, joy, triumph and the victory of light over darkness. Traditionally, homes and communities are illuminated with lamps, diyas and candles, creating celebrations that bring families and entire communities together.
For Arvid Lindblad, the festival has a particularly personal meaning because of the childhood memories he shares with his maternal grandparents, affectionately known as Nani and Nana.
His special helmet for the São Paulo Grand Prix is therefore much more than a change of colours for a Formula 1 weekend. It represents an opportunity to bring an important part of his personal history into the sport, celebrating his Indian ancestry and the traditions that helped shape his upbringing.

Lindblad was directly involved in developing the design, working to combine contemporary visual elements with references to Diwali, his Punjabi heritage and the experiences that have influenced his journey.
The result is a modern and deeply personal representation of his roots. It also reflects his belief that individuals can shape their own futures through their decisions, determination and hard work, rather than allowing their personal circumstances to dictate what they can achieve.
Arvid Lindblad’s Diwali helmet features rangoli, lotus flowers and traditional symbols
The special helmet design draws inspiration from rangoli, the decorative patterns traditionally associated with Indian celebrations. Lindblad has created rangoli designs himself in recent years, including one during last year’s Diwali celebrations.
An intricate pattern covering the top of the helmet forms the foundation of the entire design, with decorative elements extending along the sides to create a continuous visual theme.

Among the most prominent symbols incorporated into the decoration is the diya, one of the festival’s most recognisable images, traditionally associated with light, hope and joy.
Two additional elements connected to Diwali feature on the front and rear of the helmet: the lotus flower and traditional fireworks.
The lotus represents purity, resilience and the ability to overcome adversity. Its symbolism connects directly with Lindblad’s personal philosophy that circumstances should not determine someone’s destiny, and that determination and hard work can help individuals create their own path.

The fireworks reflect celebrations shared by families around the world, particularly Lindblad’s memories of lighting diyas alongside his grandfather, Nana.
Meanwhile, the base of the helmet features a pattern inspired by Phulkari, a traditional form of Punjabi embroidery. This element is dedicated to his grandmother, Nani, and her Punjabi heritage, adding another meaningful family tribute to the overall design.
Racing Bulls to decorate Arvid Lindblad’s F1 car and garage for Diwali
Racing Bulls will support Lindblad’s initiative by bringing the spirit of the Festival of Lights into the team’s garage during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.
The halo of the driver’s Formula 1 car will feature a dedicated sticker carrying the message “Happy Diwali”. The garage floor will also display an elaborate rangoli pattern, accompanied by a lotus flower and a diya positioned above Lindblad’s surname.
Additional decorative panels behind the car will feature complementary rangoli-inspired patterns, helping create an environment that reflects the festival and the traditions of Lindblad’s family.
Through the initiative, Racing Bulls and Lindblad aim to share a celebration of considerable personal importance with Formula 1’s international audience. The São Paulo Grand Prix weekend will therefore become an opportunity for the British driver to express and celebrate his cultural identity.
The celebrations coincide with the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at Interlagos, bringing Lindblad’s family traditions into the spotlight during one of the championship’s major international events.
Arvid Lindblad explains the emotional significance of his special Diwali helmet
Lindblad described the personal meaning behind the project, explaining why celebrating Diwali with his family has remained such an important part of his life.
“Celebrating Diwali with my family, especially with Nani and Nana, has always been a very important part of growing up for me. Creating this special helmet is a meaningful moment because it celebrates my Indian heritage and family roots, which are a fundamental part of who I am.”
“I was very involved in the creative process because I wanted to create something that was beautiful and modern, but remained true to the meaning and traditions of Diwali. The design brings together elements such as rangoli, the lotus flower, diyas and fireworks in a way that feels very personal to me.”
“I can’t wait to get back in the car in Brazil wearing this helmet. I know it will be an emotional moment, and I hope the helmet can help share the spirit of Diwali with people celebrating it around the world. Happy Diwali!”
