Williams, what a start
In Miami, the fourth-fastest team on track was surprisingly Williams, which outperformed Ferrari both in qualifying and in the race. It was a circuit that demanded all-round performance from the car, and for that reason, the results achieved in Florida give the Grove-based team confidence heading into Imola, where securing a strong qualifying position will be even more crucial—a phase in which the FW47 has consistently performed well (eight Q3 appearances out of twelve).
The words of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz reflect all of Williams’ confidence heading into the Imola weekend, where they could finish in the points for the sixth time in the first seven weekends—something that hasn’t happened since 2016.
Alex Albon’s comments
“Imola is a classic, full of motorsport history. It’s a great track to kick off the European season,” Alex Albon commented. “We’ve had some great results this year, and it’s nice to enter the European rounds after a strong points finish in Miami. We know we need to do everything perfectly to keep getting these results. Everyone has to be ready to give their best in this triple-header.”
Carlos Sainz’s comments
“I’m looking forward to the European stretch of the season, where we’ll race on amazing circuits and street tracks,” added Carlos Sainz. “First up is Imola, a historic circuit that always offers opportunities and makes qualifying even more important since overtaking is a challenge on this track. As a team, we learned a lot from Miami, and I’m looking forward to carrying that momentum into a positive weekend.” – the Spanish driver concluded.
