It is now well known, and even Max Verstappen himself has never hidden it. The reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, seems to have no intention of continuing his Formula 1 career for much longer. The Dutch driver wants to try other things, including the highly loved GT racing. This desire is becoming increasingly tangible. Max Verstappen has signed an agreement with Aston Martin to join the GT World Challenge with a GT3: here are all the details.
Max Verstappen has never hidden his passion for closed-wheel motorsport. Many times, the Red Bull driver, seated at his simulator, races with GT3 cars in various online championships. This is used as a proper training session.
The most surprising part is that, during the 2024 Imola weekend, Verstappen spent most of the night at the simulator to complete his stint in a 24-hour race. Despite this, and the few hours of rest that followed, the number 1 driver took to the Santerno circuit and outperformed everyone, both in qualifying and during the race.
Continuing on this topic, Max Verstappen has even created his own team that competes in various events, both online and in real-life competitions: Verstappen.com Racing. A few hours ago, Aston Martin announced an agreement to supply a Vantage GT3 Evo, which will race with the number 33 in the GT World Challenge Europe.
The car will be sponsored by AWS, with support from 2 Seas Motorsport, which recently fielded Mercedes-AMG cars in the Endurance Cup and the British GT Championship. The drivers for the number 33, the only car from Verstappen.com Racing, will be Thierry Vermeulen, Chris Lulham, and Harry King. Both Vermeulen, the son of Verstappen’s manager, and Lulham have already competed with Verstappen’s team in several championships, including the DTM.
The words of the team director, Max Verstappen, soon followed: “It has always been my dream to support young drivers. For a few years now, I’ve been working to create opportunities for eSports drivers to progress and debut in real racing. With Lulham and Vermeulen, we are taking it to the next level.”
