Aston Martin under the spotlight for 2026
Lawrence Stroll continues to pour investments into Aston Martin, stacking top-level technical talent in an attempt—so far unsuccessful—to place the team among F1’s elite. The package for 2026, a year when everything in F1 will change, looks impeccable on paper. Honda will provide exclusive power units (the Japanese giant endured countless challenges between 2015 and 2018 but later helped Max Verstappen and Red Bull secure six world titles across Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships), and at the drawing board is none other than Adrian Newey, fresh from an excellent collaboration with Honda.
Newey on motivation and design focus
The aerodynamic wizard was featured in an interview sponsored by Aston Martin Maaden and, mixing seriousness with humor, explained that excitement and anxiety for 2026 are unavoidable. “Part of the motivation comes from the fear of failure. I’ve tried to learn to use it constructively, because it makes the difference between too much pressure, or poorly managed pressure that causes mistakes, and a state of focused, clear, and creative vision. My wife, over the past three or four months, since I joined the team, has complained that I’m in a kind of design trance, and I understand what she means. I’m probably not very sociable,” Adrian Newey said.
“I have absolutely no idea where we’ll be at the start of 2026,” he added. “The team is transforming, and in recent months we’ve grown rapidly in terms of personnel. Now we need to integrate and stabilize everything. I’ve never believed in setting rigid goals; the satisfaction comes from working together to progress. Where we are at the start of 2026 will only be the first step.”
